It’s back! For a third year in a row, I was invited up to Oracle Park for the San Francisco Giants’ Media Open House where they rolled out the orange carpet to showcase the new promotions, music, shwag, and more. But, the highlight is always the food tasting that closes down the event. I was able to try a bunch of new offerings, including a loaded baked potato, elote hot dog, paradise hot dog, kimchi quesadilla, fuko crispy spicy chicken sandwich, buffalo ranch pretzel, meatball sandwich, a s’mores pretzel, lychee and…well, it was hard to not each all of every item, because I needed room for the remaining items…

Food Tasting at Oracle Park!
I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Oracle Park for their Media Open House last week. The Giants’ organization knows that the only reason so many media show up for this is the free food…it’s literally a free lunch. But, many of us pseudo-media (and media) types also share their thoughts on what’s tasty and what’s not, which gets the word out, and potentially hypes up the offerings.
Enjoy this short video where I chomp through eight offerings (mostly new). They include the Crab sandwich, Cove crab noodles, “Baby Bull” sandwich, onion rings, Fuku spicy chicken sandwich and their chicken tenders, bacon cheesburger, a baseball mitt sundae, and strawberry milk tea. I didn’t have the time or stomach capacity to taste the vegan sausage or the go-to Tony’s Pizza, but those were low on my list anyway.
Enjoy! Also, don’t forget about our 2024 Season Preview show coming out on Monday!

Episode #276: 2023 Season Preview
You can download the episode here, or stream it below!
It’s here, one of our favorite podcasts of the year! Chad and Eric are joined by special guest @StevenRissotto from SFBay and Rizzocast to talk about the Giants’ roster, Sergio Romo’s final appearance, the WBC, injuries, Brandon Belt punking his friend, Oracle Park media day and food tasting (don’t forget to check out Chad’s food review video!), and the always fun predictions! We throw out our guesses for how many games the Giants will win and read all of your guesses as well! This is a full one folks, settle in for it. The Giants kick off their 2023 season this Thursday at 10am PDT in Yankee Stadium. There’s nothing like it?
And by the way, this is our 13th season covering Giants’ baseball, and we are the longest-running podcast about this team…and apparently we’re going to become angsty and experimental soon.

Taste Test of New Food at Oracle Park

“Orlando’s Chimichanga” is a new selection at Oracle Park…I gave it a 4 out of 5.
As we enter our 13th Giants’ season as the longest-running podcast about the Giants, I’ve covered many games, interviewed many players, even gave Matt Cain a tour of Monterey Bay Aquarium. However, I’ve never made it up to the media open house, where not only do you get to sit through an hour of campaign messaging (worth it), but the treat at the end is an hour of essentially a buffet of the new food offerings around Oracle Park for the upcoming season. I know. It was tough.
I did a little taste test for most of the new food in the video below. Some of it was fantastic, some of it was meh. I still splurged at the end and got a traditional hot dog and ice cream cone to wash everything down. And I had been so good on the calorie front.
I’d say the best new foods were the grilled cheese (shockingly amazing), Orlando’s Chimichanga and the new “Churrwaffle,” which embodies the dream of a churro and waffle having a baby in your mouth. Well, not making it IN your mouth…you get my drift.
At the end of the day, as a fan, if I’m close to a Derby Grill (which you are always close to one), and I’m hungry, and I don’t want to miss much of the action, I’m probably opting for a good ‘ole hotdog and soda instead of walking to the other side of the park to lay down 20 bucks for a slightly better food offering. Now, if someone were to get it for me, that’s another story…
We’ll be streaming our season preview live on Monday, March 27 around 1pm PDT over on Facebook. The episode will be available wherever you get your podcasts.
