Eric and Chad talk about the first month of Giants baseball, and it’s not….good. After a 5 game winning streak, they’ve lost 4 in a row, and their bullpen continues to be their achilles heel, with a 6.40 ERA, good for 28th. Mauricio Dubon exacted a little revenge in game 1 with the Astros, and Mexico City was a damn launching pad on a t-ball field, played with a golf ball. It’s not all terrible news as the Giants are “only” 5 games back of the Dodgers. They’d be 9 back in the NL Central. May has started 0-1, but “May”be it’ll be better than April?

Ok, that’s easier said than done. Ten games in, the Giants find themselves at 4-6, already in last place in the NL West. There have been questionable trades, questionable signings, and questionable managerial decisions. This team is kind of where we expected it to be. Homers, strikeouts, and a revolving roster around mediocrity. Eric and Chad break it all down for you, but our Giants’ fandom might be suggesting that we’re a bit frustrated already. That’s ok. Giants baseball. Nothing like it?

Episode #163: The Giants Aren’t Good

The Giants started off this week with a 2-game sweep in Toronto and finished a 4-4 road trip before heading back to San Francisco to face a depleted New York Yankees team that had 15 players on the injured list. That didn’t matter, as the Yanks swept the Giants at Oracle thanks to bad starting pitching, poor defense, and getting behind early.

Despite going 2-3 this week, the Giants sit at 11-17, last in the NL West and only surpassing the Marlins in overall record in the NL. Bum, Holland and D-Rod all did poorly against the Yanks, and Gary Sanchez hit the ball out of the yard twice, one time at 467 feet.

We talk about the week, the last visit to SF by the Yankees (Chad was there for Bonds v Clemens in 2007), who’s hot and not, should Mac be called up, should the pens be moved along with the elimination of Triples Alley and more.
