Episode #265: Now the Giants are Good?

Buster Posey most likely used a lot of his successful investment into Body Armor to buy a portion of the Giants to become their first co-owner that was a player.

Giants went 6-1 this week, making a .500 season possible if they go 6-3 the rest of the way. Buster Posey owns the Giants (partially)! Aaron Judge is going to be very expensive, no matter if he hits 60 or 63. Albert Pujols crosses 700 homers. The Giants’ pen is hot, and is it ok to wear your name on the back of a jersey?

Episode #262: When the Lights Go Out in the City

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – AUGUST 31: San Francisco Giants’ Joc Peterson backpedals into the dugout jawing the whole way with home plate umpire Adrian Johnson after a call strike three during an MLB game against the San Diego Padres, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, in San Francisco, Calif. (Karl Mondon/Bay Area News Group)

Not a good week. At all. The Giants are in the midst of a 7-game losing streak, including sweeps at Minnesota and at home against the Padres. At 10 1/2 games back of a playoff spot, tied with Arizona now, with 32 games left, the season is over. What went wrong? Who’s to blame? What can they do? The only goals left are to have a winning month, get close to .500, and see what the young bucks have in their tanks. 2022 is turning out to be an extremely disappointing season for a team that set a franchise record with 107 wins last year. Come commiserate with us!

The Giants have one of the worst records after the All Star Break at 5-12 and are almost completely out of the playoff picture. That said, they are getting a lot of their regular roster back and can make ground against the Padres starting tonight. The boys also talk about what the Giants did and didn’t do at the trade deadline, and how they may hope to compete with the Dodgers and Padres rosters in the future. Plus, Hunter Pence is going on the Giants’ “Wall of Fame” on 9/17! Remember, you can catch us live most Mondays at 12:15 pm PDT.

Giants set opening day roster

Here is your 2022 San Francisco Giants Opening Day roster:

The roster is expanded to 28, from 26 for the month of April to help out with the double headers and lack of off days due to the season starting late from the lockout. Personally, not too many surprises, as it’s very similar to the 2021 opening day roster and what they had at the end of last season, aside from subbing Bart for Posey, adding Rodon and Pederson and a few others. Hey, the Giants are apparently 107-win underdogs this year. Let’s see how they do. They open tomorrow, Friday, April 8 at 1:35pm PDT at home against the Miami Marlins. Chad should be at Oracle on Monday when they battle the Padres, be sure to follow all the action at TortureCast on twitter.

Episode #176: Yaz Hands!

San Francisco Giants v Arizona Diamondbacks

Mike Yastrzemski watches his third homerun of the game leave the yard in the 11th inning of a 10-9 Giants victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both teams hit 6 homeruns each, 1 shy of the MLB record set just a month ago. Photo by Getty Images.

Eric said the Giants needed to go at least 4-2 this week, and well, they did. Although, we were hoping for a 5-1 week, Bum laid an egg in the last game vs Arizona. We recap a solid week of Giants baseball which saw Mike Yastrzemski hit 3, yes, 3 homeruns in a game. Last time that happened was Jarrett Parker…where is he now? We also saw the MLB debut for Logan Webb, Pillar light it up, Belt’s granny, MadBum’s masterpiece vs Oakland, and Will Smith’s meltdowns.

We review the week in Giants’ baseball, stroll down memory lane, cover transactions, the upcoming series, and bring back “Guess that Giant!” Hope you enjoy episode 176, we did!
